Additional options are being created to show more instances when a practice may bulk bill. This will be made visible in the form of additional tags that will be displayed on the HealthEngine network. When a patient is looking for a bulk billed practice, these new tags will be visible on the search results they receive as well as the practice profiles they choose to view.

We recognise that practices wish to be able to offer a more comprehensive view of the times and circumstances when a patient can be bulk billed. And so this is the first improvement we are planning to make to more accurately represent options available to patients.

What do the tags look like?

The new options appear on your profile like this:

What are the benefits?

You will be able to indicate your practice bulk bills at specific times according to the criteria that these new tags are applicable for. This will allow you to be more visible to patient’s who are only looking for a bulk billed appointment increasing your practice's ability to attract patients, and receive even better performance on the HealthEngine network.

Patients will see more practices when they are looking for a bulk billed appointment. These new tags will open up options when the ‘Bulk Billed’ filter applies to a patient’s search criteria. This means that patients will have greater choice in the location of care they can choose from and at the times that suit them best.

How do they work?

The following criteria will exist for the new bulk bill tags:

  • Bulk Bill (Weekdays)
    • Your practice bulk bills any patient at any time from Monday to Friday.
    • Your practice does not bulk bill by standard during the weekends.
    • Patients are likely to be privately billed for weekend appointment times.
  • Bulk Bill (Office hours)
    • Your practice bulk bills any patient during standard office hours 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
    • Patients are likely to be privately billed for out of hours appointment times.
    • Your practice does not bulk bill by standard during the weekends.
    • Patients are likely to be privately billed for weekend appointment times.

If you activate one of the new Bulk Billed options and choose to still privately bill a patient during the hours specified by the criteria outlined above, this is the responsibility of your practice. HealthEngine does not accept any responsibility for incorrectly misleading patients as this will be a decision made solely by your practice.

How do I activate them?
