Booking notifications FAQ

We understand that as a patient, you may choose to book your appointments in different ways, whether that's online, over the phone, or at the front desk.

Now, you can receive an email or SMS notification with all the details about your appointment, no matter how you booked—even if it wasn't through Healthengine.

This is an opt-in service your practice can use to help make sure you always have your appointment details.

Please note: Not all practices adopt the sms booking notification system.

Below are some of the Frequently Asked Questions for this notification:

Why did I receive this when I don't use Healthengine?

Your practice sends booking notifications via Healthengine so you have all the important details easily accessible.

With busy schedules, it's easy to forget appointments. These notifications clearly remind you of your appointment and practice information, so you don't miss anything important.

I didn't book this appointment, so why am I receiving this?

Our software has noticed an appointment scheduled for you in the practice’s appointment book on the date and time mentioned.

If you believe this is not correct, please contact the practice and refer to the appointment details in your booking notification to clarify the situation.

This may have happened if your patient profile was selected by mistake, if your email address was entered incorrectly, or if the patient provided the wrong email address.

Why was this sent to someone within my family?

A booking notification is sent to the contact details your practice has on file at the time of booking. Depending on the software they use, they might contact the emergency contact you provided if no other details are available.

Sometimes, when appointments are made directly with the practice, the contact information given during booking is used for notifications like this to help keep you informed.

If you'd like to prevent this from happening in the future, it’s a good idea to double-check the contact details linked to the patient record with your medical practice

This helps make sure notifications go to the right person next time.

I don't give you permission to contact me.

If messaging isn't your thing and you didn't give the green light for contact, we absolutely respect that.

Your preferences are super important! You can unsubscribe from receiving these kinds of messages by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of the email we’ve sent you.

If you’ve received the Booking notification via SMS, you can reply to the message with ‘STOP’ to unsubscribe.

How do I stop receiving these notifications?

If you ever want to take a break from these messages, it's simple to do. For emails, just scroll to the bottom and click the 'Unsubscribe' link. One click, and you'll be unsubscribed.

If you received a Booking notification by SMS and prefer not to get these messages, just reply with 'STOP.' We'll take care of unsubscribing you from these SMS notifications.

We're here to make things easy for you. Whether you want to stay in touch or take a break, the choice is yours.

IMPORTANT: If you want to block messages such as recalls, you will need to request the medical practice directly to include you in the Healthengine block communication list available only to them in their Healthengine Practice Admin Portal.
